What You Can Do

When affordable housing is destroyed, it puts more pressure on the remaining housing. It means more homelessness, and the ghettoization of our communities. But this isn’t a foregone conclusion. What happens in Venice is up to Venetians.

Give Mr. D'Elia some feedback
Robert D'Elia hasn't yet purchased Venice Manor, nor has he officially applied for permits. This is the best time to let him know what you think of his proposal. Contact him at RAD Ventures, and tell him that Venice is not going to let him destroy Venice Manor. (310) 862-8600 / 542Venice@radventures.com
  • D'Elia’s plan to remove 28 rent-controlled apartments from the Venice community is unacceptable.
  • Venice Manor is a historic garden apartment complex (built in 1949). It should be preserved, not destroyed.
  • D’Elia’s past projects, The Venice Art Lofts and Dogtown Station, make a mockery of Venice culture. We don’t need more of them.
  • The tenants at Venice Manor have a better solution -- step aside, Bob!

Tell your Councilmember to support a TOPA for Los Angeles
A Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) would empower tenants all over Los Angeles to help solve the housing crisis. If you live in Los Angeles, your Councilmember needs to hear from you. District 11 Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and District 15 Councilmember Janice Hahn have both voiced their support for an L.A. TOPA. Thank them and tell them you want to see this happen as soon as possible.

Bill Rosendahl: (213) 473-7011 / Councilman.Rosendahl@lacity.org
Janice Hahn: (213) 473-7015 / Councilmember.Hahn@lacity.org

If you live in a different district, ask your Councilmember to support TOPA.
